Silver Division at the Midwest Youth Cup: Developing Travel Team Bracket

Silver is the developing travel team bracket. It is built for teams in their second or third year of competitive play, or for first-year travel teams whose preseason results suggest a competitive home at this tier.

Who plays Silver

  • Second or third year travel teams
  • YSSL Division 1 mid-table finishers
  • IWSL Gold mid-table finishers
  • MYSL Silver competitors
  • Strong rec-plus teams making the transition to travel

What to expect

Three matches against teams at a comparable point in development. Most Silver brackets reflect a wide developmental range, a Silver team that wins its bracket may move to Gold the following year. A Silver team that struggles may move to Bronze. That mobility is healthy.

Common questions about Silver

The most common mistake is entering Bronze when Silver is the right fit (because the team won league last year against weak competition) or entering Silver when Bronze is the right fit (first season, building team chemistry). Either error makes the weekend less enjoyable for the team and the families. Email the tournament director if you're unsure, Gabe places teams from this kind of email all the time.
