Bronze Division at the Midwest Youth Cup: First-Year Travel Team Bracket
Bronze is the first-year travel team bracket. It is built so that programs new to competitive play get a great tournament weekend, three competitive matches against peer first-year teams, real referees, the same trophy presentation as every other bracket, and the same on-site facility experience as Premier.
Who plays Bronze
- First-year travel teams making the jump from rec-plus or in-house play
- Second-year programs that finished bottom-of-table in YSSL Division 2
- Strong rec teams entering competitive tournament play for the first time
- Mixed-year teams using the tournament as a development weekend
What Bronze looks like
The Bronze bracket is run at the same operational standard as Premier. Three-person crews at 11v11. Lighted fields. On-time kickoffs. Real bracket tracking. The Bronze champion in each age group wins a trophy and gets the same field presentation as the Premier champion.
Is Bronze the right fit?
If this is your team's first year in competitive travel soccer, Bronze is almost always the right starting point. A Bronze bracket where you go 2-1 and lose the semifinal is a great first-year tournament outcome. Entering Silver because "we're competitive in our rec league" is the most common over-seeding mistake, Silver opponents are typically two years into competitive play.
Email the director with your team's recent results if you'd like a placement recommendation.
