Parents FAQ for the 2027 Midwest Youth Cup

Quick answers for the questions parents ask most often. Your team manager has the team-specific logistics; this is everything else.

What to expect

Three days of soccer at a real tournament facility. Multiple matches across Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday. On-site dining, restrooms, and seating around every field. Most families make a full weekend out of it.

What to bring

  • Layers. March weather varies, sunny mid-50s to cold and wet. Pack accordingly.
  • Folding chairs. Comfortable sideline seating for between-match breaks.
  • Rain gear. Matches play on turf, they continue in rain.
  • Chargers. GotSport schedule updates come through your phone.
  • Cash and cards. On-site dining is card-friendly, but cash is useful at concessions.

What not to bring

  • Outside food or beverage, prohibited inside the facility.
  • Open coolers.
  • Pets (service animals are welcome).
  • Smoking or vaping products (facility is smoke-free).

Where to sit

Spectators stand or sit on the touchline opposite the team benches. The other side is for coaches and players only. This is a standard youth-soccer rule and tournament staff enforce it consistently.

Food on-site

Multiple options. On-site restaurants and a full bar inside the facility. Field-level concession stands for quick snacks and drinks. Plenty of variety across the weekend.

Weather

The complex is all turf and all lights. Rain alone does not stop play. Lightning, thunder, and extreme cold can stop play. Weather decisions are made by the tournament director and communicated via GotSport email and SMS.

Making the most of the weekend

  • Saturday evening: New Lenox and Frankfort have a great dinner scene. Downtown Chicago is 40 minutes away if you want a city night.
  • Sunday morning: Get to the complex 45-60 minutes before kickoff. Coffee at the on-site concession.
  • Sunday afternoon: If your team finishes early, Chicago is open for the rest of the day if flight timing allows.

Cheering and conduct

Cheer for your team. Stay positive with the opposing team's players and parents. Let the referees referee. Match staff and tournament staff will address concerns; parents trying to address concerns themselves makes everything harder for everyone.
