Stay-to-Play Rules and Hotel Block at the Midwest Youth Cup
The Midwest Youth Cup is a stay-to-play event for teams traveling more than 90 miles. Teams beyond the 90-mile radius must book hotels through the official tournament block. Teams inside the radius are exempt.
Why stay-to-play
The structure lets the tournament partner with New Lenox-area hotels for tournament-rate group bookings. Those partnerships subsidize facility costs and keep entry fees competitive. Families benefit from group rates at hotels that already know how to handle a tournament weekend.
The 90-mile threshold
The threshold is measured from the team's primary home club city to the Wintrust Crossroads complex in New Lenox, IL. Straight-line distance. Borderline teams within ~5 miles of the line should email the tournament director for confirmation before booking outside the block.
Booking the block
The hotel block opens with the final schedule on March 12, 2027. Booking links and partner hotel details ship via GotSport email to all entered teams.
Expected partner mix:
- National-chain hotels in New Lenox and Frankfort
- 10-15 minute drive from the complex
- Tournament rate via the booking link
- Team-block options for clubs entering multiple teams
Exemptions
- Teams inside the 90-mile radius (no booking through the block required)
- Teams whose head coach has documented family or housing in the area (case-by-case)
To request an exemption, email the tournament director before registering.
Penalties for non-compliance
Teams outside the 90-mile radius that do not book through the block may have their registration converted to a non-stay-to-play surcharge, billed at $200 per team. This rule is enforced as needed to maintain the tournament's hotel partnerships.
